SEC Preview1 LSU - They bring back nearly all of their starters after a great season. With Les Miles at the helm, its hard to see them NOT slipping a game. They will win 11, with their 12th game being a coin toss. They will win the NC if they make it.
2 Alabama - The talent there is unreal, but in experience will always cost you. Losing McElroy, Jones and Co will hurt, but look for 10 wins with a likely bowl win. 3 Miss St - Im really on this St bandwagon. They will have likely the best defense in the conference and I think Relf will have a decent year. If St was in the East they could be a 11-1 team. But stick with 9-3. 4 Arkansas - Just one of my gut feelings. I think they are in the right direction and Davis will carry them to some nice wins. Unfortunately for them as well, they have a tough schedule, so 9-3 is most likely. 5 Georgia - Murray is the real deal. But this team went 6-7 last year with an embarrassing loss in their bowl game. Not having Green hurt before will hurt yet again. They will win the division, but only because its weak. Think next season. 9 wins tops. 6 S Carolina - I think Garcia will blow things up in a bad way. I just dont trust the Gamecocks. 10 wins is likely due to a weak schedule. But Georgia will win the tie breaker. 7 Auburn - I dont see another great year, but the talent and coaching is there. Once again, another West team will suffer due to a tough schedule. Safe bet is 8 wins. 8 Tennessee - A team that should have been an 8 win team will have improved some. Being in the East will help them. Talent and coaching is there to be special next year. Stick with 8 wins to be safe. 9 Florida - Brantley may thrive under Weis, but not the rest of the team. I think it will be a tough year for the Gators who will turn things around quickly. The schedule isnt easy. 8-4 with UT holding the head2head tie breaker. 10 Ole Miss - I havent followed the Rebels much, but all I know is they are screwed in the West. 6-6 11 Kentucky - Poor Wildcats. Tough schedule. 6-6 12 Vandy - Its still vandy. 4-8

3rd Sat. in October: Bama and the VolsWell its finally here! After back and forth streaks, Bama has taken over the series and has won the last 2 and 3 of the last 4 (if Im right). Bama has just taken hold of the #1 spot in the AP Poll, after beating S. Carolina 20-6, while Tennessee is coming off of a bye after a surprising demolishing of Georgia, 45-19. Some wonder if Bama is a little bit overrated. Some want to know who the heck is going to show up this week-Crompdaddy and Da Boys, or InCromptent and... Who? So lets break it down...

Bruins 19 Vols 15...Reality can be a bummer.37-10... 42-7... 52-3? I will have to say, I was quite disappointed in how, well lets see how I can put this, "delusional" my fellow Vol fans were. Lets just say Vol Nation came back down to planet earth.
Now I ate my humble pie as well. I predicted a 10 point win for the Vols, but, didnt everyone else? It was hard. For the 2nd year in a row, my team beat themselves (props to UCLA obviously, I was really impressed with the QB and physical play) against the same team, embarrassing themselves-this time at home no less. Last year I had hope, that Crompton just needed time and that Lincoln was just rusty since it was the 1st game. This year, not so much. Crompton is the worst QB Ive ever seen strap on a helmet. OK, now that I got that out of the way, lets look at the remaining areas of this team:\ I thought the Oline was better than this. They were OK though. I mean, how are you expected to do well when the defense is stacking 8/9 guys in the box because they know you cant throw against them? Sullins will have to step it up. Price isnt the only decent DT they will play. I was impressed with the last drive by them, expect for that 4th and 2 play obviously. Speaking of the 4th down play. I beleive most of us wondered why they didnt try like a toss sweep, since up the gut wasnt working so hot. But of course we wouldnt be talking about it had Hardesty scored. I didnt exactly like the playcalling, especially the call for a pass play to open the 2nd half-which was picked. But he HAD to throw the ball at some point I guess. And then I had to deal with something worse than a loss. Even worse than a losing season. Worthless fans. Read on 3sib.com a blog that was supposedly about his thoughts on the game. Instead it turned into a "told you so that Kiffin sucks" bash party. This was a UT fan now guys. The Fulmoronites make me mad, as well as any of fans that jump on the bandwagon and throw Kiffin under the bus after his 2nd game. Crompton is the Practice King, dont blame Kiffin for being deceived. He had a pretty good thing going until Crompton screwed it up. Anyway there was one part in this dbags blog that said Crompton was a big reason that Fulmer lost his job. BS. Thats when the "post a comment" section went crazy, including me. If BJ was the answer why didnt Phil play him? THats right BJ wasnt his guy. And why did he allow Crompton to throw 41 times when Foster had 7 yards per carry average? Why did the special teams NOT have a coach and screw us over time again (including that UCLA loss)? O thats right Fulmer. OK sorry to get off track, but theres been plenty of Kiffin hate going around. Seriously guys, give him time. We are ONE count them on your fingers ONE player away from a decent squad. Instead it will look worse than it is because of Crompton. I mean I feel real sorry for the guy. He has given it his all even with death threats and everything. He just doesnt have it. And neither does Stevens. So shut up about Kiffin. And I dont see the Florida game being close like I had originally predicted. Not with Crompton throwing 10 picks. Not with Stevens. They will stack the box and stop the run. So in conclusion the defense is still pretty good, we just need better play from the ends especially and LBs. The WRs might have played below par, but they were wide open several times. Hardesty is awesome and will earn every yard he gets. Brown looks nice too. Oline needs to improve but they are OK. If Crompton has a DECENT game UT will keep it to within 3 scores. It depends on when he decides to make the bad plays. Im hopefull things will change and that Crompton hasnt went back to his old self. But Im also realistic and realize that probably isnt going to happen/be the case. It could easily be along season, but I will follow every play-including this Saturday. Gators 37, Vols 13

Review of the Vols: Kiffin's debut a nice oneNote: There are many of you that say "You beat a crappy team, big whoop." More than likely, you didnt watch the game and dont know what they looked like compared to last years.
OK, this is it! The ball is kicked off and reality sets in-its happening. Fulmer is not on the sidelines. Its Kiffin. After what seemed like forever for this offseason to come and go, the Lane Kiffin Era is real now. He and his staff are calling real, live plays. So it starts off with WKU getting the ball 1st. OK, the defense is suffocating, no surprise. Now the offense has it. Kiffins 1st play is called. The 1st series is taking place. Lets see what kind of team compared to not only last years offense, but compared to a Fulmer offense. But moslty compared to last years. TE Brandon Warren puts the ball on the ground. Ok. Hardesty fumbles? Huh? Crompton is picked off??? What the screw??? That was the 1st quarter. But from the 2nd quarter on, you could see a difference in this Tennessee squad. I dont care if the school for the deaf and dumb could beat WKU. I know the Hilltoppers suck beyond recognition. But listen to me, this was about Tennessee. And this was alot different that last years offense. Last year the Vols beat N Illinois 13-7. 13 points is not a typo. Then they lost, yes lost to Wyoming, only scoring 7 points. Crompton couldnt hit the broadside of a barn, the WRs dropped passes and my gosh the line couldnt block. There was confusion. Crompton stared his target down the entire time and, in most cases, threw it at the WRs feet. Guys, he threw it in the stands on 4TH DOWN one time. ![]() Not saturday. Crompton looked very sharp. 2 tipped INTs are not always his fault (thought the 1st one was). He didnt look confused, he was extremely accurate, and he was having fun. He looked completely different. He didnt have to think. He was playing football. Sure he didnt have pressure in his face and super tight coverage (altho once he got hit and made a pretty pass for a TD). But this wasnt about THEM saturday guys, it was about the VOLS. Take away the 1st couple of turnovers and they didnt beat themselves, which was their main problem last year. Then we got the big boys up front. Sure this isnt an SEC type Dline theyre up against. But they had 170 yards rushing against Wyoming and N Illinois COMBINED. Yep, 170. 380 is alot better. No more flipping. ![]() Speaking of the backs, I think as long as we have solid blocking they will do some damage, especially late in the game with fresh legs. And the freshman didnt play like freshmen. (Richardson isnt the answer on punt returns anyway) Teague was very nice and Brown and Oku seem ready to contribute. Hopefully Brown will get alittle more physical. Then we got the playcalling, which I thought was very nice. I was pretty pleased with it. (TE was acually involved) And how the team kept playing hard after the big lead. Crompton was in there longer than I expected, but that answered my question of how many live reps did Kiffin want the 1st string to get. So am I saying we are ready for the big boys, or even that we will demolish UCLA? NO! But Im telling you why this 63-7 win over a terrible team is worth smiling over. It appears we might have a chance at a good year. Sure, Alabama will treat our offense like they did VTs, and sure there will be some picks and fumbles. But Im willing to bet that 90% of that will come via the other team, NOT because or team shot themselves in the foot. No one beat UT last year. They beat themselves. Dont look for alot of that this year. Go Vols! Posted on: August 16, 2009 4:22 pm

Indepth preview of the Vols: Theyve got a chance. Every team has a chance to be good or better than expected. Every fanbase gives their team a better chance at doing so than everyone else. UT is far from being an exception.
